Dubai World Trade Centre Set to Host Major Global Events in 2026
Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has announced that Phase 1 of the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) expansion is nearing completion and remains on schedule, paving the way to host major international exhibitions from early 2026.
The expanded venue will welcome two of the world’s most prominent events—Gulfood Global and the World Health Expo (formerly Arab Health)—highlighting DWTC’s continued investment in strengthening Dubai’s events infrastructure. Upon full completion by 2031, DEC is set to become the largest purpose-built indoor exhibitions and events venue in the region, significantly enhancing Dubai’s capacity to meet growing global demand in the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector.
Phase 1 of the AED 10 billion expansion will deliver 140,000 square metres of event space, including 64,000 square metres of permanent exhibition halls and 30,000 square metres of flexible pavilion space. Integrated with the existing complex, the expanded facilities will accommodate up to 50,000 visitors per day.
Temporary pavilion structures will provide additional capacity and flexibility for Gulfood Global and the World Health Expo 2026. These pavilions are directly connected to the main exhibition halls and central arrival plaza, with outdoor food and beverage terraces and activation zones designed to enhance the visitor experience.
The site also benefits from convenient pedestrian access linking the pavilions to Al Wasl Plaza and the Expo 2020 Metro Station. Following the conclusion of the Q1 2026 mega events, the pavilion areas will transition back into construction to support the next phase of expansion.
Mahir Julfar, Executive Vice President at Dubai World Trade Centre, said:
“The expansion of Dubai Exhibition Centre demonstrates Dubai’s proven ability to deliver large-scale international events with precision, excellence, and impact. Completing the expanded venue in record time reflects strong collaboration across government entities and city partners, from infrastructure and mobility to safety and visitor experience. As we prepare to host our 2026 mega events, our focus remains on delivering an exceptional experience for every exhibitor and visitor.”
Amer Al Farsi, Vice President of Real Estate Development at Dubai World Trade Centre, added:
“The Dubai Exhibition Centre expansion is one of the city’s most advanced and efficiently delivered infrastructure projects, combining intelligent design, scale, and sustainability. With Phase 1 nearing completion, all major structural and operational milestones have been achieved through close coordination with our partners. Our teams are now focused on final readiness to ensure that all systems, facilities, and visitor infrastructure meet DWTC’s uncompromising standards of quality and safety.”
